We're creating a better hometown experience

I continue to believe that people in Chester can tell our stories and identify our problems better than an outsider. 

Since 2006, I've written about issues in Chester that need to be addressed and have asked questions that need to be answered. While my newspapers and blog posts spark interest, they aren’t the best format for sparking engagement. 

I’m thrilled to introduce the ASK CHESTER platform dedicated to people just like you who are passionate about working on solutions to the biggest issues facing Chester now and in the future. The gate keepers are gone. This space is your workshop to collaborate and create solutions.

This space is exclusive to people who share your interests, who live near you, and care about the same topics as you. We are dedicated to making better, more well-informed decisions about the things that will improve our city by sharing stories, experiences, ideas, connections, and resources. We aim to inspire each other with thought-provoking conversations, expert perspectives, and targeted calls-to-action each and every day.

There are no bosses here. There are no spectators here. There are no gatekeepers here. Everyone has equal say. This isn't the place to scroll up and down a timeline. This is the place we connect with no distractions to come up with solutions for our city.

These are the topics we'll start with. We expect to add more topics as we grow and each topic can form breakout groups where people can focus on working out solutions to certain aspects of a topic. For example, Chester EDUCATION can have a specific breakout group with members working on Cyber Learning issues and another breakout group could be working on Creating Classes in the Trades.

Many of the topics are discussed in your Facebook feed but Facebook has three major problems: 

1. Facebook is distracting as it crowds your timeline with so much random content trying to get your attention - 
2. Facebook interactions aren't effective methods to collect ideas or come up with a solution - it's really just a sounding board for complainers - 
3. Facebook’s algorithm leaves a lot of people out of the conversation because it limit how many people see your posts. 

On ASK CHESTER you will see every post related to the topic you’re following so you can help resolve the issue with all the others who are following the same topic. Once you resolve an issue here, you can take it to Facebook, the blog, or to the nightly news to announce it to the world.
